Fashion eyewear, also known as glasses, eyeglasses or spectacles are frames with lenses worn in front of the eyes, usually to correct vision, or to protect eye from sun or UV rays.
The frames of modern eyewear is commonly made from metal or plastic. The lenses on the other hand, traditionally made from glass are now also available in different types of metal plastic, such as CR-39 or polycarbonate. Additionally, the plastic lenses often include scratch-resistant coatings giving them similar scratch resistance as the glass has.
